SHARE Hampton Roads Volunteer Sign Up Sheet
SHARE stands for Self-Help And Resource Exchange. SHARE is a national network of nonprofit organizations dedicated to providing quality monthly food packages at a reduced cost, promoting volunteer service in our communities and building partnerships with community organizations. SHARE is unique because it includes everyone. There are no qualifications to participate in SHARE. If you would like to learn more about how to purchase food through the SHARE program, please contact the program's administrator, Mona Crump, at email@example.com. Mona will be on site at this event if you have any questions.
Help us distribute the SHARE food packages each month to Distribution Teams and families. Here's what you need to know to help:
- WHERE: There are two sites you can volunteer at -- Hampton and Va. Beach. Make sure you pick the right city when you sign up. Hampton distribution takes place at the Foodbank, 2401 Aluminum Avenue, and the Va. Beach distribution takes place at St. Andrews United Methodist Church, 717 Tucson Ave.
- Please do not sign up next to the Virginia Beach location if you plan on coming to the Hampton location. Once the Hampton location blocks are taken, this means that the volunteer opportunities are closed and full for that location.
HOW MANY: Due to space and consideration for your time and effort, we limit the number of volunteers to approximately 15 at the Hampton site and 10 at the Va. Beach site. This ensures that we have an adequate number of people each month without so many people that we are stepping on each other's toes! If all the "click to sign up" blocks are filled for the day and location, this means all the volunteer positions are filled. Please sign up for another location or day.
WHEN: January to October ~ 5:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. ******* November and December ~ 5:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. (There are NO partial shifts; you must sign up for the entire distribution.) Please Note for the Virginia Beach location the start time is 6 a.m.
DRESS CODE: Distribution always takes place in the warehouse, so please dress accordingly. Closed toed shoes like sneakers or work boots are REQUIRED. Ballet flats are not safe to wear as they will not protect your feet.
If you wish to receive credit for your volunteer time (for school projects, civic organization requirements, etc.), you must have an application on file. I am happy to email an application to you, which you can bring in on the day of your volunteering.
- Children ages 12 to 14 are permitted to volunteer with a parent or legal guardian. Children ages 15 to 17 may volunteer without a parent present, but must have permission to do so (in this case, a signed volunteer application will suffice). 18 years above above my volunteer on their own. Due to safety considerations, the Foodbank reserves the right to limit the number of children at a volunteer site at one time.
